When I initially wanted to venture into web development I initially looked at how good the money is in the industry and how much flexibility web developers have. I also wanted to be in a competitive field that has new opportunities for learning and career growth.

Like many careers, web developers get paid more as they gain experience which can average about R283 000 per annum for a mid-career developer in South Africa. With coding skills as a web developer, you are able to trade your skills while also being creative. You are able to be yourself and make your ideas come to real-life working solutions

It may sound like a scare and that you might never reach your goals as a web developer, however that is not the case. Developers are constantly learning individuals and trying to acquire new skills therefore challenging yourself is what you have to get used to.

As a software developer, you will find that there is never ONE way to solve a problem but rather many different ways to get to a solution. You are also expected to find out what works best and what doesn't or whether new tools/technologies are needed to solve a problem. It is your job to find out!
